Rules of the Site
Out of Character Rules
- Swearing is allowed in limited quantities.
- But only very infrequently
- An excess of bad language will result in the suspension of your account, with the possibility of deletion for repeat or extreme offenders.
- We won't ban for occasional slips in language, but will if you offer us nothing but obscenity.
- The contents of your OOC posts are to be kept relatively clean, and we will expect a certain level of maturity from all members. There will be no inappropriate content, (i.e. Rape jokes, graphic language).
- This includes hate speech of any kind. Be respectful of all people's religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, political affiliation, etc.
- All OoC posts can be of any length depending on the topic being posted in.
- Do not intentionally be rude to or try to annoy people, either the staff or any other member. It will only result in suspensions or banning. Conversely, the staff are also expected to act in a restrained and professional manner.
- NO spamming outside of "The Last Post Wins" threads, or similar games in the Lodge. The rest of the board needs to remain on-topic.
- The OOC section is NOT a chatroom. All members are expected to use correct grammar, spelling and punctuation at all times. Affected words such as 'Sorreh, pretteh', etc. are fine in moderation, but try not to fill your posts with that sort of writing.
- Respect the staff, they have worked long and hard to get where they are and do their best to make this the best site possible.
In Character Rules
- Violence and Sexuality are allowed to an extent.
- They are part of many adventures, and that's fair enough as it goes, but please do not take this to excess.
- Things can be alluded to that do not have to be actually shown in graphic detail, and extremely descriptive posts that take things to such extremes will be deleted.
- We can't control what goes on in messenger or PM's, but we do NOT want to see it upon the surface of the board.
- There are to be no posts IC under the length of 6 sentences.
- Even if there's not much for your character to actually do you can still use these essential sentences to describe either the scene or how your character is thinking/feeling.
- Moderators and Admins will be checking, so please follow as constantly short posts are, in short, bloody awful to roleplay along with.
- RP Posts are pieces of actual writing.
- Make them in the paragraph format, as opposed to the *does something* style.
- We would also like punctuation, reasonable spellings and grammar, and an adequate length. Sloppy writers need not apply.
- This is a TEXT BASED RPG. This means that there are no real graphics involved. It is not a video game, it is a forum where people come to write stories and interact with others based on The Legend of Zelda video games.
- Your character can only be in ONE THREAD at a time.
- Leaving threads to join other threads at any time is perfectly acceptable - provided that you make it clear that your character is exiting for another location.
- No doing things that are impossible for most people to accomplish.
- You're playing a normal character, and there's no way you'll be able to defeat whole legions of Stalfos singlehandedly. Even ONE Stalfos should be a frightening opponent to all but the most renowned of warriors.
- Your character will never be able to break down the Door of Time. Nor will they be able to draw the master sword, acquire the Ocarina of Time, etc...
- Interact with other players.
- It's fun to meet people and interact with other character. Try to bring others with you on adventures. Work as a team, and things get done easier, and it makes the experience more fun.
- We will not force your characters into partnerships that they may not realistically want to form until they're in a good part of their story to form them, so even if nobody replies immediately then we suggest you continue posting anyway to tell the story of your character.
Chatroom Rules
Courtesy of Tabasco
- Treat the ZRPG chatroom as you would General Discussion. This is a social element of the board without the hassle of "post reply" buttons, but does not imply you should go crazy. Feel free to wander off topic, but please refrain from spam wars and aimless "is anybody here?" posts. Check the sidebar to see who is currently online in the chat.
- Keep swearing and offensive language to the bare minimum. It is not encouraged or excusable, but if it is pertinant to IC character development then please warn others before typing out what you wish to be said. Otherwise, please keep the chat room at least in a PG13 environment.
- Blatant discrimination, no matter the case, will earn a one way ticket to chat room banishment. We will not tolerate insults regarding religion, race, personal ethics, sexual preference, an individuals music/fashion preference, or even a certain writing style.
- Although roleplaying is encouraged within the chatroom, "cybering" or anything else in terms of sexual intention or harassment is ABSOLUTELY prohibitted. Keep it in your pants, or you'll be unwelcome to talk with us.
- Excessive use of popular internet memes, catchphrases or any other methods of spam are discouraged and frowned upon. We here at ZRPG love inside jokes and senseless humor, but relentless waves of "THE CAKE IS A LIE" or "EPIC FAIL" will earn you a "omg shut up."
- Finally, try to remember not to post passwords, emails and personal information in the chat! If you are exchanging email addresses with somebody else also in the chatroom, it is recommended you do so via the PM system on the forums. Please try to have fun! We look forward to interacting with you.
Signature Regulations
- You are allowed to have a picture in signature.
- This picture must be NO LARGER than 165x600.
- If you choose to have a picture, you also get an additional 3 lines. No more. Less if you'd like though.
- Without a picture, you are allowed 10 lines of written content.
- Post links to your characters in your signature.
Punishments and Consequences
ZRPG enforces a three-strike punishment policy for the breaking of any rules. The admin or mod's word is final, and there is to be no appeal. Your status will be reset to normal after 30 days.
- Warning - This is the first offense. A warning will be given by a member of staff. If need be, the offending post will be deleted.
- Branding - The second offense. Another warning will be given in the same way as a warning, but the offender will receive the custom title 'Mudcracker' and be shamed for the duration.
- Banning - The third, and final offense. The offender should have been given enough warning by now to have changed their criminal ways, and as such any member getting the third strike is banned from the site until we see fit to let them back in. Don't be surprised if the ban is never revoked.
Occasionally these rules can be bent, i.e. if someone commits a very big offense on their first strike, they may be mudcrackered.
