Welcome to ZRPG.net! This page is dedicated to helping you, a person new to our site, understand how our roleplay, community, and website works.

The first thing one would want to do is read the site rules found here: Rules Page.

Now that that is done, let us begin with what you have more than likely come here for:

The Roleplay

Setting:
----------------
Our board takes place 14 years after the Adult Ending of Ocarina of Time and 21 years after the end of Majora’s Mask. The reason that this is possible is because Termina, being an alternate dimension, is not affected by the split-timeline, thus Link was able to save them both. Zelda is now Queen of Hyrule, and Kafei is Mayor of Clocktown.

In Hyrule, what was known as the Cult of Din tried to resurrect the Evil King 11 years after his defeat, in the process laying ruin to Kakariko Village and creating destruction throughout the land. They were defeated at the Temple of Time, and their leader imprisoned. The full account of the events can be found here: Click. Currently, the people of the land are recovering. Due to the destruction of Kakariko, a new village of the same name has been started further south, the same as what appears in Twilight Princess. That village has now been completed, and is labeled New Kakariko.

In Termina, things have been relatively unchanged, other than the drastic evolution of Ikana from the cursed land seen in the game to the Mecca of Undeath seen in our roleplay. As the curse was broken by Link, King Igos was left kingdomless and ill at ease, and thus in an attempt to bring his soul to peace, he has dedicated his Kingdom to being a safe haven for the peaceable undead of the world, using his coffers to rebuild his palace and the surrounding area into a now thriving city. However, the peace in Termina is sure not to last long, as rumors of grave doing in the long abandoned Stone Tower have been leaking into the land...

Play:
----------------
We are an account-per-player site, and all writing is to be in third-person, past tense, limited perspective. We are a location-based roleplay, meaning that for each new region/local your roleplay visits, a new thread is to be made in that place. For instance, if your character was in Castle Town and wanted to get to Lon Lon Ranch, the first thread would be at the former, and then would continue in a new one in the Lon Lon forum, with a thread in Hyrule Fields if you see fit to do so. Literacy is required, as we pride ourselves on being -the- best Zelda Roleplay site on the internet.

Our site no longer has a direct main plotline, but rather a plethora of character/user driven plots and occasional staff driven events that incorporate the main villain. To find a roleplay, it is highly suggested that one make a post in the character classifieds, just making a thread and hoping people join is not recommended, as that may never occur.

Characters:
----------------
We expect a lot out of our characters here at zrpg (but we are usually rather easy on a first character), and to find the full run down of what is required please go here: Character Rules and Application Outline

It may seem like a lot to read, but if you follow it, you are more than likely to get an easy approval. At the end is where you will find a blank template to fill out.

If you need help creating your character, or have a concept you are unsure would be ok, make a topic here: Character Development

Original Content and Board Canon:
----------------
Through community effort and staff discourse, certain matters pertaining to the Zelda Universe have been decided to be certain ways. This is termed as being "site canon", things such as the "no folded-steel weapons" rule is an example of such.

Many of our expansions are detailed in the Grand Library, and range from geographic theorem to the culinary arts. Most of the information unique to the site and useful to a roleplay is found in Original Content.

The Community

Accessibility and Usergroups:
----------------
When joining the forums, one’s access is limited to a selection of forums: Hello Goodbyes, The Training Ground, and Character Applications.

After having made an introduction thread in the H&G’s, one is granted access to the rest of the community forums so that they may interact with the community.

It is only after getting a character successfully accepted that a user is allowed access to the roleplay forums.

Staff:
----------------
ZRPG staff members have years of roleplay experience and in most circumstances have been on the site for more than three years. They are individuals who have earned their position through hard work and dedication, and one should treat them with utmost courtesy.

The staff is divided into four groups: Elders are members who give their opinions on matters yet have no official vote, they are often former staff members or longtime members who are essential or valuable to the site. Moderators compose the majority and deal with a myriad of functions about the board, ranging from character applications to dealing with member disputes. Knights are basically Junior Moderators, and have half a vote. Administrators are those that oversee the totality of the site, managing the staff, forums, and members.

Information about the staff can be found here: Staff Info

Custom Titles:
----------------
CT’s are lines of texts, and sometimes images, that appear under one’s username. They are given out as rewards to members. Opportunities to earn one are announced occasionally.

The Site

iFrames:
----------------
Our website utilizes frames as a means of accessing separately built webpages whilst remaining within the overall structure of the website. As a result, the url in one’s address bar will not change, and to retrieve it all one needs to do is right click on the content which you wish to link to, and click View Frame Info. The address will be found at the top of the info box.

We have two means of accessing our forums to utilize as one sees fit: One using iFrames, deemed the “iForums” (reached by clicking the iForums button on the mainpage) and the other being the traditional forum window (reached by clicking the mainpage banner).

Skins:
----------------
The forum has two style types, that of Dark Link and that of Ganondorf. These styles are then further divided into “I" and regular skins. The integrated or “I" skins lack the top banner image and padding the normal skins have, and are recommended for use if the iForums are being used, the banner stretches out your screen, or you are using a mobile device.

Announcements:
----------------
Announcements are found both on the website and the forums. It is suggested to check both locations, as each includes different information regards separate things. Typically, the website is reserved for larger announcements, and the forums for ones of smaller import.
