Re: A New Kakariko: Crossing the River
As soon as Talon heard Minori tell her to calm she realised just how aggressive she was being, since the bandits earlier her senses had been in overdrive. These kicked in once again as she heard the arrow speeding towards them and saw Derek raise his shield. She dropped the grovelling and apparently unarmed Angie and bolted for her mare. She leaped, mounted and kicked the horse into a gallop towards the caravan in one fluid series of movements.
Talon was a fierce sight, her face creased with aggression, her armour and horse shining black against the fiery tones of her red hair and tanned skin.
“Get those wagons downstream! There’s a Fjord about half a league down, Move it or your all dead men!” She roared as she ran the mare through the center of the camp before turning back to see Topah heading towards the bandits. “Oh for the Love of Din!”
She drew the bizarre bow she had built for herself and notched and arrow to it, steering the sleek black horse towards the group of bandits Topah was heading towards. She loosed the bolt, which found its mark perfectly in the chest of one of the bandit archers, and before the arrow had even hit she had the second drawn and ready.
She looked for Minori, to be sure her Gerudo sister was somewhere safe. She knew the girl was no warrior, despite what they were famous for. She had grown quite fond of the girl in their short time together, as Minori brought out Talons more gentle side. The side she only showed to her younger family.
She also looked for Derek. She liked the young warrior. He had heart but not much experience, bus she thought to herself “We all had to start somewhere…”. She knew one day though he would be an impressive warrior because his heart was in the right place and he fought for what he felt was right.

Re: A New Kakariko: Crossing the River
Derek suffered a few scrapes and wounds, but he managed to fight off the bandits in front of him. He started to look for his teammates, and he found Talon first, at which the sight made him brighten up, for seeing her was like seeing a mentor, and thus boosted his morale. With this, he jogged to her position, and asked her, "Are you alright?" knowing that she should be, he didn't hesitate to ask it anyway. His young, developing body was experiencing some major changes, and the battles he had fought made his nervous system improve. He no longer wavered at the sight of blood or someone's limb get chop off, but he still keeps in mind he is robbing the other the right to live. "War is really... sad." Derek thought to himself.

Re: A New Kakariko: Crossing the River
(Something tells me you weren't expecting this.)
Running.
Running.
Running. She tried to pace herself, keep her breathing steady, her arms pumping at her side as she avoided the bandits trying to catch up with her. She didn’t even look behind her. There was no point. If they caught her they caught her. All she could do was stay focused on her goal. The carriages that were just again beginning to move… To evacuate. That was the order sent out by those bravely attacking the bandits behind her. Yet a few had decided to run after her, to try and stop her from getting back… It was surprising. Chasing after an eighteen-year-old girl with a large war-axe strapped to her back for no reason.
She jumped over overturned logs, streaked past trees, stormed her way through bushes until a muddled, mucked, and slightly bleeding girl emerged into a small clearing. The carriages were so close. For a young woman, she was quite quick. For a young woman carrying an axe, it was amazing she could move at all. She was petite, of average-height, and thin. She seemed fit, but she didn’t seem muscular. She had golden bracelets lining both of her arms, although they all seemed to be of slightly different colors. The dress she wore ended mid-way down her thigh, stopping an inch or so above her knees. Her uncovered limbs were bruised and bloodied, but the adrenaline kept her going. She would not miss that carriage. She could not.
Yet it was starting to pick up speed. The carriage was getting further away from her, and the bandits were getting closer. She let out a small grunt as she tried to push herself even further. She looked down to her wrist and noticed one of the bracelets – the oldest, most dented of them all begin to slightly glow as she pushed herself as much as she could. And it worked. She felt her feet move faster as her lower muscles were pushed into overdrive. She could feel herself fill up with energy, with pure power, and she ran even faster. Once she could reach the back of the carriage she stretched out her hand, grasping on. She hurdled herself forward, streaking through the air as she landed in the back. She let deep, heavy, and quick breaths as she tried to compose herself. She looked at those around her.
“The… bandits… were… so close…” she said, and it appeared as if she was hyperventilating. With her right hand she wiped the dirt, sweat, and blood off of her face and away from her eyes. Her very light pink hair, which almost appeared blond, was a great mess, wrapping itself around her shoulder blades. It was completely undone. The two identical braids she usually kept it in had been ripped out, the ribbons scattered forlornly across Hyrule Fields. Those around her tried to comfort her, and she just let them. Even if they didn’t know exactly who she was, they knew a young girl that had just been victimized couldn’t just be turned away. “I can’t wait to get to Ordon…” she muttered, trying to compose herself.
The bandits that had been chasing her paused. One looked towards the other and whistled shrilly, for all of the bandits to hear. There was a pause. Every bandit had been waiting for that call. The entire group. They looked at each other, stopped fighting whoever they had been fighting, and retreated. Their goal had been completed. Even if they hadn’t caught the girl, or stolen everything the travelers owned, they had completed their goal.
“Does anyone know where Barra is?” a woman asked. Kiara looked up to her. Her bottom lip quivered unhappily. “Do you?” she asked.
“I saw him… He had been talking to a guard. The bandits grabbed him. I tried fighting them off, but they outnumbered me. They took him. And Yami, too. They said they were going to kill me if I didn’t tell them --”
“Tell them what?” a man asked. “What did you tell them about us?”
“Where we’re going… I’m sorry. I had to! They were going to kill him… And his fairy… I didn’t know what else to do!” she said apologetically.
“Is that all? How did they know who Barra even was?”
“I… told them that too. I figured they wouldn’t kill our leader, sent by the Queen. That would piss off a lot more people than just killing me. Or you.” She turned her head down, looking towards the ground. “But they told me some things, too.”
“Like what?”
“They won’t hurt us if we keep going to Ordon. If we just keep going, get the supplies, and go back to wherever we’re heading after that. I didn’t tell them that part. I didn’t tell them what happens after Ordon, at least!”
Those that had been talking to her turned away. She looked out the back of the carriage, to the rest of the fields. The others would be able to catch up. The bandits were gone, but this was obviously not the last they’d be seeing of them. Kiara didn’t know what to do. She looked down towards her belt, opening a small satchel she kept attached to it. She pulled out a black and purple boomerang, running her fingers along the side. She nodded in approval. “So this thing can warp anyone to the Kakariko Graveyard?”
She smiled. “Nifty.”

Re: A New Kakariko: Crossing the River
Derek looked at the bandits' retreat. He was confused
beyond measure, be he was thankful that they did what
they did. He turned and said to Talon and Minori, "I'm
going on ahead to check on the convoy." And after that he
went to Angie, and made a gesture for her to follow him.
She did, and all the way to the convoy, they saw that
they were already in a good speed. Derek was glad they
were able to get moving, and so when they finally got at
the back of the convoy, walking with the pace, they heard
bad news.
"Barra was what?!" Derek exclaimed. Angie tried to calm
him down, but the fight made him agitated. Angie was
trying to remove Derek's chest plate to ease his load,
but Derek gently pushed her aside, stating that he has to
find Barra and bring him back, however he suddenly
fainted, and Angie had to carry and drag Derek's
unconscious body as she walked to the carriage.

Re: A New Kakariko: Crossing the River
The bandits may have been relentless, but they were untrained, unskilled, and unorganized. Still, Topah had a tough time fighting them. First, he was used to taking out at most four people at once, not close to one hundred. Second, he got hit pretty bad across his stomach. Although it wasn't a serious wound, Topah was not used to feeling pain, so he had a hard time keeping the bandits off him while dealing with the cut.
He finally kicked down a bandit after giving a man a deep gash across his stomach. It wasn't deep enough to kill the man, but it was deep enough for him to think twice before approaching Topah. The bandit looked around and saw that the rest of the bandits were retreating. Clutching his stomach, and fearing for his life of course, he retreated with the rest of his comrades. Topah smirked. The bandits finally understood that going up against the golden eyed bounty hunter would only lead to their deaths. Topah drove his sword into the ground and leaned on the hilt to catch his breath. His breathing suddenly grew heavier, and pain started seeping into the rest of his body, his limbs, and especially into his chest where the large wound was. He looked around his body and realized that not only was he hurt in his chest, but a lot of his body parts were injured too and that he was bleeding almost everywhere. The interesting thing was that his conscience wasn't fading and seemed healthy and alert.
As the bandits retreated, Topah caught something in the corner of his eye, something that wasn't good. Two of the bandits were dragging Barra by his arms, and another bandit had Yami trapped in a glass jar. Damnit! thought Topah. But once he took a step, he realized that there was no way he'd be able to catch up to the retreating bandits. He was now faced with a decision: should he try and save Barra in his current condition, or should he go back to the caravan?
If I go after the Kokiri, I pretty much won't be coming back to the convoy, and I might miss my chance for the bounty. But if I go back ... there might be a job on the bandit leader's head for a hefty sum ... he argued to himself, Screw it, I'm going back.
He turned around to slowly make his way back to the caravan. The adrenaline had left his body, and fatigue started to catch up to him. Fortunately, his walking pace was faster than the rate that the caravan was crossing the river. It took a while, but Topah finally saw the convoy still in the midst of crossing the river. A guard saw the poor boy walking back to the convoy using his bloodied sword to support his weight. The guard immediately ran to Topah's assistance and asked him, "Do you need help?"
"Yeah," Topah replied, "just get me to my carriage."
"But you're -"
"I said, get me to my carriage."
The guard obliged by giving Topah a piggy-back ride and dropped him right off on his carriage. Topah then sat on the driver seat and took hold of the reins. But right when he did so, he closed his eyes and passed out.

Re: A New Kakariko: Crossing the River
Talon fought ferociously, a whirlwhind of arrows, shining and bloodied steel, fiery red hair and temper that left a trail of carnage in her wake. She had been dragged from her horse at some point in the fight and the spooked horse had bolted back to the safety of the caravans which were now almost at the fjord.
The gerudo took down 2 bandits in one attack, her scimitar gutting them both in one long swing, but In that time she was attacked from behind. The weight slammed into her, knocking her to the ground and the blade found it's mark between 2 of the plates in her armour. She felt the seiring pain and the heat of her own blood. She struggled for a moment under the weight of her assailent before closing her eyes with a death rattle like sigh and fell limp across the floor. The bandit leaped from her and ran to catch up with his now retreating comrades, notbothering to loot the bodies before he ran which talon found unusual.
As soon as the bandits had gone she got shakily to her feet. Composing herself and gritting her teeth against the pain, she then started to jog to catch up with the caravans. She cursed at the lack of a horse but she reached the convoy eventually where she immediatly went searching for Dereck, Topah and Minori, knowing nothing of Barras fate.
The first of the three she found was Topah, unconciouse in the seat of his wagon. Quickly she took the reigns from his hands and tied them to the rear of the van in front, before lifting him down with a pain filled grunt, as she felt the wound to her shoulder ooze with fresh burning blood once more, and carried him carefully to the medical wagon to seek out help for them both.

Re: A New Kakariko: Crossing the River
(ooc; sorry for the delay, I wasn't aware that tophu was back into posting mode lol)
The battle had become chaotic and confusing, oh so confusing. Minori could only slightly recall her teacher at the academy warning about keeping a clear mind during a battle, as to not be victim to its chaotic nature. However, the young Gerudo girl could do nothing as panic quickly took over, as she found herself knocked off her carriage and on the ground, in the midst of the fight with the bandits.
She urgently looked around for someone from her convoy in order to stay by them, but her mind couldn’t register anything as fear took over her body like a terrible disease. Panicking, the young Gerudo ran as fast as she could towards the general direction where the canvas had rolled. However, peering behind her, she noticed that she had grabbed the attention of one of the bandits, as he was now hot on her heels.
Attempting to lose her pursue, she took a sharp turn towards a small conglomeration of trees – thinking that she could perhaps hide in safety. Her back against the trunk of a tree, she peered slightly to the east. From the distance, she could still see the chaotic battle raging in the fields – though gladly away from her. There wasn’t any sign of her pursuer and the Gerudo finally was able to breathe normally.
Sliding down in a sitting position and hugging her knees, Minori buried her face into her thighs as she attempted to calm herself down. This isn’t what she had expected. Her quest was simple, go to Hyrule Castle Town and find Kyo. She wasn’t supposed to be chased by peahats, lose her supplies or get attacked by vicious bandits.
“I don’t want this…I want to go back home…” Minori whimpered as her body trembled, the noises of battle still echoing from the distance.
“Not yet, the fun is just starting.”
The Gerudo’s head jolted up and her eyes widened, as she realized that her pursuing bandit was standing nearly a foot away from her. Jumping to her feet, she grabbed one of her knives and attempted to strike him in the chest. However, the man lazily grabbed her by the wrist and twisted the knife painfully away from her hand – dropping it on the grass at her feet.
“Well well, I thought all you desert rats were strong…” the man said with a wicked chuckle as Minori gasped and struggled to free her hand from his iron clad grasp. “You’re nowhere near as scary as that other wench with the scimitars.”
Without any warning, he slammed the back of his other fist against Minori’s cheek, sending her crashing to the ground – flat on her stomach. The young Gerudo groaned as she felt her cheek throbbing and warm blood guzzling out of her nose. She attempted to stand back up on her knees and run away, but the bandit stomped her on her behind with his foot, keeping her from squirming away.
The chaotic noise of battle started to die out as a loud whistle echoed across the field. The bandit paused for a second, before cursing under his breath.
“You have to be kidding me? We have to retreat already? And I was having so much fun…” the man said in a disappointed click of his tongue. “However…”
Keeping his foot firmly onto Minori, he gazed at her with lustful eyes. “It’s much too convenient that you chose to retreat to such a secluded place. I can’t pass up a chance to teach your filthy kind a thing or two hehe…”
Minori whimpered and groaned as tears started to form in her fearful eyes as she could do nothing but watch her assailant unbutton his pants. The Gerudo was terrified and confused, unable to comprehend what the man was planning on doing. Tears eddied down her cheeks as she attempted to free herself from underneath his foot, but to no avail. During her struggles, however, her left hand frisked something cold and in an instant, she realized her hand was placed on top of her knife that she had dropped earlier. Sobbing quietly, she clasped her palm around the weapon.
“Alright, I have to leave, so the quicker you cooperate…” the bandit said in a chuckle as he bent down to grab Minori’s shorts. “the less painful it’s going to beco – ARGHHH”
The man shrieked in pain as the Gerudo plunged her knife deep in his thigh, before tripping backwards on his lowered pants. Seizing the opportunity, Minori jumped to her feet and ran as fast as she could towards the chaotic battle she had attempted earlier to escape from. The bandit painfully removed the knife from his thigh and started to chase her with an enraged face.
“I WILL BLEED YOU TO DEATH, DESERT WENCH” the man roared as she chased a terrified Minori down the field. Spotting the Caravans that have already begun to move again, the Gerudo went as fast as her legs could carry her – ignoring the pain in her back and the blood from her mouth and nose.

Re: A New Kakariko: Crossing the River
Kiara watched from the back of the caravan for the stragglers that tried their hardest to catch up. She shook her head and laughed at them. So slow... They'd better hurry before the bandits came back! The girl snickered. When she saw Minori, though, being attacked by a bandit that refused to retreat... Her snicker turned into an unhappy look of disgust. "He was supposed to retreat..." she snarled. From a crouching position in the back of the carriage she jumped out, running at full speed towards the two figures, one obviously struggling against the other. "Disobeying... orders..." Once she reached the two of them, she tackled the bandit to the ground. She pulled off the kerchief that covered his mouth and nose, and ripped off the bandana he wore to cover his head. When she saw who it was... she jumped up and gasped. "What are you doing?" she said, her voice in disbelief. The bandit stood next to her. She stood back, inching backwards as he stood their grinning. "Surprised to see me, Kiara?" he let out a laugh. "What, I can't have fun too?" "You're supposed to be the leader! You didn't follow your own orders?" "And you did? You're supposed to be on that carriage. Now they're going to get away... Have you failed me again?" "They won't leave without her... Assuming you keep her alive." she placed both hands on her hips. She looked down to her wrist, where an old, dirty bracelet glowed triumphantly. Even when she didn't believe in herself, at least she could believe in that stupid hunk of metal. One hand reached for the axe on her back. "Do you really want to do this now? Really, Kiara?" "Leave her alone," Kiara said. "Why do you care about this wench so much, eh? Are you two dating or something?" he looked over to Minori and looked her over as if he was imagining such a situation. He was too pleased with himself for Kiara's liking. Quickly swinging her other hand over, she slashed towards him with the axe. If he had moved a second later, she would've cleaved through his chest. Instead, she barely managed to cut through his outer layer of clothing. He pulled out a short sword from his side and charged forward, with her just managing to block him with the giant blade at her side. She let out a grunt as she slipped downwards and then upwards, destroying his balance and throwing his sword arm up. She slammed forward, using the tip of her axe to bash him to the ground. He fell and slid back, trying as hard as he could to catch his breath. "Go back to where you came from, bandit!" she cried, trying to stay in character as much as she could. "I'm tired of dealing with you... assholes!" She slammed the side of her axe down on one of his legs, and she could feel the bone shatter beneath her. He let out an agonizing yell but did nothing in return. What could he do? "Don't speak a word of this to anyone," she threatened towards Minori as she returned the axe to her back triumphantly. Her bracelet sparkled. She turned away from the Gerudo girl, not waiting for any kind of thank you. She didn't want anything. She just wanted to get back on that fucking carriage. What a horrible day this was turning into. The consequences for her actions would not be easy. Continued in: A New Kakariko: The Last Leg
